It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone. This Christmas has felt less like any Christmas that I’ve ever experienced. Maybe it is because about a week before I got a case of acute pancreatitis and I felt absolutely sick as a dog when I went around to celebrate it. I had spent about three days in the hospital beforehand too. That is the reason I suddenly went silent on here. I was sick and then I was recovering. Let me tell you, as someone who has had various medical issues (and been hospitalized a few times for them), pancreatitis was one of the worst. I’d still say kidney stones were worse than that but this comes in a close second.
Still, as I recover (and I’m very much on the mend at this point), I’ve looked over my life and thought about things that I’m going to be changing. Long before the pancreatitis hit I already decided that I would be quitting smoking. I won’t be going cold turkey but I will be switching entirely to Juul pods and gradually stepping down from those. It is going to be the best way for me to do it and I know that because I’ve done it before. Quit for a year, actually. Then a stressful event came and I sort of just slipped back into smoking without realizing it. Well, now it’s done. Not only will I need to save money but I want to save my health and I definitely want to be off of them by the time I’m 40, which is shockingly less time from now than I want it to be.
I will also be working on my overall health with diet and exercise. Trying to cook more and eat less fast food. Get a bit more healthy that way. I intend to do mild exercise that won’t aggravate my joints (I already have a bad back and knee from an unfortunate life of working mostly labor jobs). Back in 2017, I messed up my back during work and it’s never been the same since. It has made finding more work even harder since I am very limited physically in the type of jobs I can do (but that doesn’t stop me from trying to look for work). I was in catering before COVID hit and then…well guess what became very unpopular during COVID. Back to the drawing board, though, I need to get employed since writing doesn’t seem to be going very far for me.
Other than those two things, I intend to keep up better with my blog. Publish something three times a week (every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). I will be bringing a mix of life advice, writing advice, horror movie reviews, and continuing my story CONTRACT. I will also be possibly offering up other short and erotic stories as well but I’m not sure yet if that will happen or not. I plan to up my game and presence on social media and promote, promote, promote. If you didn’t know, here is all of my social media as of now:
Expect everything to become much more active with not just my writing but my art, photography, and hopefully some videos here and there. Since I can’t afford official marketing for my work I am going to have to get out there and do it myself. Within that time period, I will also be continuing to find representation for my screenplays. I believe I have a better chance of finding a manager or agent for screenwriting than I do for my manuscripts, so I’m going after that harder than I ever have before. I will also be doing more research into how I might bring my own visions to life via short films. I have at least one short horror screenplay written and it’s something that wouldn’t be too hard to produce myself so…I’ll be looking into that. 2022 will be a much more intense search and work for commercial success with my writing and my social media presence. Feel free to check out any of my additional pages, leave a follow and a like and I will do my best to follow back. I promise! This new year is going to be a year of prosperity. A kick in the ass. Time for an all-new and improve Nadia Valentine…at least I hope that’s the case. What type of resolutions have you made? I’m dying to know!
